Remember when your marriage was a walk on the beach?
Let's get it back to where it began--
perhaps even better this time!
Richard Rupp, M.Div., MFT
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist with twenty years of experience in private practice in Pasadena, CA. I work with individuals and couples of all ages, with special expertise with men and stress, relationship and sexual issues.
I have taught as an adjunct professor on Men and Psychotherapy at Fuller Theological Seminary, and am a speaker for marriage conferences, men's retreats, parenting workshops and radio interviews. My overseas work in the Philippines has given me personal insight into Asian culture and family life, as well as multi-racial marital issues. Here in Pasadena, I have supervised graduate students in marriage and family therapy, led numerous men's groups in my office and also led drug and alcohol rehab groups.
My latest and greatest project is on a rite of passage that initiates boys into a manhood of integrity, love and passion.
A personal passion? The picture above from one of my sailboat races says it the best way of all. To help men put the passion back in their sexual life with their wives, I co-authored the book, What Wives Wish Their Husbands Knew about Sex: A Guide for Christian Men (with Ryan Howes and Stephen Simpson, Baker Books,2007). Wives say they love the book too!

Ever got off course in your life, relationships, and dreams?
Whether from your own mistakes or unexpected events, it can happen to anyone. Marriages that start off with hopes and smiles can end up drifting apart or shipwrecked on rocks. Careers and financial plans can also get off course.
As a relationship expert for twenty years, my work is dedicated to help individuals and couples to get back on course in life and to arrive at their intended goals.
If you are struggling in your relationships, marriage, personal life or career pursuits, therapy can offer you new insights and solutions to reach your goals. It's natural to be unsure about opening up about your needs to a new therapist, but your first phone call can put you at ease and help you decide if therapy could turn your life around. I invite you to call me and discuss your needs. One phone call can help you decide.
Common issues that I help my clients to get over and move on in life include:
relationship problems such as fears of rejection, avoidance of conflict, distrust, betrayal, hurts, and a range of issues from financial problems to parenting discipline styles.
depression and unhappiness that come from earlier life experiences in childhood with abusive parents or siblings, problems in school, divorce and step-families, or social problems with peers.
anxiety and obsessions with decision-making and fears of making the "wrong" decision, perfectionism, and letting go of things--or someone.
self-doubts, fears, guilt and regrets
It's time to get back on course to your life's dreams.
Don't let problems from your past or present continue to interfere with reaching the goals for your life and love. If your life or marriage is heading for the rocks, give me a call before it is too late. If you are single and want to prepare yourself for a successful future, therapy can help. And even if you have already smashed your life to pieces on the rocks, pick up the phone and call me. Your life was not meant for unhappiness or failure.
